‘The Curse of La Llorona’ Coming Home This Summer With Deleted Scenes

Announced today, you can own director Michael Chaves’s The Curse of La Llorona when it arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on August 6, or grab it earlier on Digital on July 16.

From New Line Cinema and producer James Wan, this year’s The Curse of La Llorona brings the iconic Latin American legend to terrifying life in an original horror film, marking the feature directorial debut of Michael Chaves, the innovative filmmaker behind the award-winning short “The Maiden.” It’s being released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

Set in 1973 Los Angeles, the film tells the story of Anna Tate-Garcia (Linda Cardellini), a social worker and widowed single mom struggling to balance the two roles while still coping with the loss of her husband. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, she and her own kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm.

The film also stars Raymond Cruz (TV’s “Breaking Bad,” “Training Day”) and Patricia Velasquez (TV’s “Arrested Development,” “The Mummy” films). Supporting cast includes Marisol Ramirez (TV’s “NCIS: Los Angeles”), Sean Patrick Thomas (the “Barbershop” films, “Halloween: Resurrection”), Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen (“Selfless”) and newcomer Roman Christou.
