One of the killer doll movies that came along in the direct wake of Child’s Play was 1991’s Dolly Dearest, directed by Maria Lease and starring Denise Crosby, Rip Torn and Sam Bottoms.
In the film, An American family moves to Mexico to fabricate dolls, but their toy factory happens to be next to a grave and the toys come into possession of an old, malicious spirit.
The ’90s horror film is currently out of print on DVD and selling for ridiculously high prices, but the good news is that a brand new release is coming from Vinegar Syndrome!
The genre-themed home video company has announced, “Dolly Dearest is on schedule for an April release.” They note that a restoration of the film is currently in progress.
Stay tuned for more information as we learn it.
